Thalassa for Windows and macOS

The same application on both systems: the same features, the same interface, the same invisibility in screen shares. Install it, point it at your own documents, and run one conversation with it.

Windows

Windows 10 (2004) or newer, 64-bit. The other party's audio is captured with no extra software.

macOS

macOS 11 Big Sur or newer.

Which Mac do I have? And what is BlackHole?

Apple menu > “About This Mac”. If it says “Apple M1”, “M2”, “M3” or newer, choose Apple Silicon. If it says “Intel”, choose the Intel build.

Hearing the other party: on macOS 14.2 (Sonoma) and newer this needs no driver — the app reads the system audio through Apple's own interface and asks once for the permission. Only on macOS 11 to 14.1 does it fall back to a virtual audio device (BlackHole — open source and free); it detects at startup whether that is missing and walks you through the setup, about three minutes, once.

Windows exposes played-back audio as a recording source on its own, so Thalassa hears the other party with no extra software and no driver. Windows 10 version 2004 or newer, 64-bit. Install, sign in, and the first conversation can start — the assistant asks for a microphone permission on the way and for nothing else.
On macOS 14.2 (Sonoma) and newer, Thalassa reads the system audio through Apple's own audio-tap interface: no driver, no restart, one permission you grant once. On macOS 11 to 14.1 that interface does not exist yet, and the app falls back to a virtual audio device (BlackHole — open source and free); it detects at startup whether it is missing and walks you through the setup, about three minutes, once. Which of the two applies is decided by your system, not by you.
This build carries no developer certificate yet, so Windows SmartScreen and macOS Gatekeeper warn about an unknown application. That is expected. Windows: “More info” > “Run anyway”. macOS: right-click the app > “Open” > “Open” again in the dialog. The step-by-step version with every dialog named is in the installation guide.
The same on both systems

What you get, and the one place the two systems differ.

When you share a single window or application, the assistant window is excluded from the capture on both systems. That is the case the product is built for: you share your slides or your browser, and the window you read from is not in the stream.
On Windows the assistant stays out of the recording even when you share the entire screen. On macOS 15.4 and newer, Apple removed the interface that made that possible, so it can appear. Two ways round it, and the app suggests both when they apply: move the assistant to a second display you are not sharing, or share a single window instead of the whole screen. We would rather name this than let you discover it in a client call.
Knowledge base, preparation, playbooks, account and billing all work the same on both systems. Your documents are read, indexed and searched on your device. One named exception: a scanned PDF has each page sent to the backend once, for text recognition, and that can be switched off.
The interface comes in eight languages. Answers and live translation cover sixteen — you can run the interface in German and hold the conversation in English without changing anything else. A mobile version for iOS and Android is in preparation.
Before you click

The five questions that come up at this point.

Which Mac do I have?

Apple menu > “About This Mac”. If it says “Apple M1”, “M2”, “M3” or newer, take the Apple Silicon build. If it says “Intel”, take the Intel build. The browser cannot tell reliably, which is why both stand there.

The button says the release is not available yet.

Then the release manifest could not be reached. The page never hides the buttons because of a network error — reload once, and if it stays that way, write to support@thalassa-consulting.com.

Do I need an account before I download?

No. You download first and sign in on first launch. The trial starts there, not here.

How do updates work?

The app checks for a newer build and tells you; you download and replace it. There is no silent background updater — on a machine that sits in client conversations, we would rather you decide when something changes.

How do I remove it again?

Windows: uninstall like any other application. macOS: drag the app to the trash. Your knowledge base lives in your user folder and is deleted with the app data; deleting the account is a separate step in the settings.

Step-by-step, with every dialog named

The installation guide walks through both systems, the first-launch warning, the audio setup and the first sign-in.
